Nov 2011: David Stringer Physiotherapist at the London 2012 Olympic Stadium
A busy November culminated in a trip to the London 2012 Olympic Park for David, as he provided physiotherapy cover for the London Handball Cup as part of the "London Prepares" series.
The London Prepares series is a collection of international sporting events designed to test the facilities and processes in place for the forthcoming Olympic Games. Having previously worked as a Physiotherapist at the 2002 Common Wealth Games in Manchester and also with the England Rugby Union International teams, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) were keen to have a Physiotherapist of David’s experience involved.
The London Handball Cup involved six of the sports top teams and the tournament was won by Austria. David’s role was to treat the athletes at the Olympic Handball Arena and also to provide emergency medical cover court side.
David commented, "I was really pleased to be asked to support the medical cover at the London Handball Cup and get an opportunity to see the facilities in use prior to the Olympics next year. It was of special interest to me as Stratford in East London (the home of the Olympic site) is where I trained to become a physiotherapist back in 1997 to 2000. The event was very well organised and the athletes were very grateful to have us there."

Also in November, David was asked to look after the physiotherapy needs of the cast of, "We Will Rock You", who were completing the Leeds leg of their nationwide tour before heading on to Edinburgh.
"Although professional dancers are very different from professional athletes, there are some similarities. The job is very physical and they train and perform for large numbers of hours during the day so are at risk of various overuse injuries," stated David.
