April 2011 - David Stringer working with the England Rugby Football Union

At the beginning of April, David was working with the England U17 Rugby Union Team as they took on their Scottish counterparts at West Park Leeds. David usually works with the England Senior and Saxons Squads, as part of his role as a Locum Physiotherapist to the Rugby Football Unions Elite Squads but he was more than happy to work with some potential stars of the future, particularly as they were being coached by Stuart Lancaster with whom David has worked with for the England Saxons as well as at Leeds Rugby. David commented, "Unfortunately England lost the game to a very spirited and skilful Scottish side, but at age group level it is more about development than results so hopefully some of these players will become full England Internationals one day".

Towards the end of April, David attended the Rugby Football Union's, 'Fit to train, fit to play fit to win' conference at Twickenham stadium. The conference focused on the use of GPS analysis of both International and Premiership matches in an effort to adapt training techniques to maximise performance. Some fascinating data was presented; particularly on just how much more demanding an international match is compared to a premiership match, providing more evidence to demonstrate just why we get so many injuries in International Rugby Union.
