Oct 09: David Stringer awarded MSc in Sport Injury
Following two years of post-graduate study at Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield, David successfully completed his Master of Science in Sport Injury.
The course is aimed at bringing together specialists in sport science, sports medicine to provide an integrated holistic approach to the prevention, management and rehabilitation of sport injuries.
To complete the course, David had to undertake a 15000 word research project of his choice within the field of sports medicine. With support from leading Manchester Groin Surgeon Mr, Ian MacLennan, David investigated the factors affecting recover following bilateral prosthetic mesh inlay repair for inguinal disruption. The condition is more commonly known as a sportsman's hernia or Gilmore's groin and is common among athletes. The participants in the study included a number of Premiership Footballers, Super League rugby players and Premiership rugby union players.
